Regular games are our standard format, and you can safely assume that if a game does not specify what format it is, that it is a regular game that happens weekly (more recently, we're trying to make sure we mention if a game is weekly as well).
Sometimes there are also regular games that happen only certain weeks, or a certain number of times a month.
Players directly pay their GM $12 per 4-hour session
Sessions are 4 hours, with a short break (usually 10-15 minutes) to allow everyone to stretch, bio, and refresh without missing anything
To sign up for regular games, go to that game's sign ups channel on our Discord
If you are new and looking join, this is where you can ask about an open seat, and what things the GM would like to know for character creation
If you are a current player, this is where you can note your attendance, which is very helpful for giving a GM a heads up about so they can make adjustments to their plans for that session (if needed); it is especially helpful for GMs running in-person games to know how many players to expect, as we pay per player reservation fees to make sure we always have a table available for us with some of our venue hosts.
Special Games are extra sessions or a short series of sessions that are typically attached to a Regular Game, but are scheduled at another time from the Regular Game.
Focus on specific character storylines or events that aren't well-suited for happening during the regular sessions due to time constraints and spotlight sharing, such as events that concern only one or some of the party (such as individual prologues, personal side quests)
Character Canonization
Players directly pay their GM $20 for up to two hours of gaming
Contact your GM to discuss the details of what you would like to explore or accomplish, and then find a time that will work you all parties involved
For the last four years, we have offered two kinds of games: $12 four-hour regular games involving up to eight players, and $20 two-hour private games or special sessions for one or more players. We recognize that both of these options involve investment; monetarily from our players, but also in terms of energy and effort from both our players and (especially) our DMs.
To help with this, we are now offering a new type of game: the $5 Pop-up Game!
Focused help from a GM for: creating a character, spell advice, exploring/learning world lore, practicing combat, learning 5e mechanics, using DNDBeyond/Beyond20/Roll20
Additional or expanded "Session Zeros"
Non-canon sparring between PCs and monsters, PCs and NPCs, PCs and other PCs
Play any of the levels of the game and with any combination of magic items, completely dependent upon what is agreed upon by the GM and the player(s)
Potentially play at any time of day or night, in store or online (again depending on GM/Player agreement and local game store operating hours)
Pop-up Games are not intended to be canon (or at least are not automatically canon, GMs may canonize at their discretion) and what happens in such a game will not affect the lore of the world
They do not provide PC advancement, nor do they offer permanent rewards
Regular, weekly, scheduled play
Games consisting of more than four players
Quick answers to questions that could be asked for free elsewhere on the Discord
Players directly pay their GM $5 for up to an hour of gaming/help
Each additional player also pays that GM $5
Any help or game that takes longer than one hour will cost an additional $5 for up to one additional hour, per player
On our Discord, a Pop-up GM role will be self-assigned to GMs who are available to run Pop-up Games. @ pinging this role in the 🎪pop-up-games channel will contact those GMs.
Player(s) will @ ping the Pop-up GM role and provide a brief description of what kind of help or game they would like to play
At their discretion, GMs will reply to these requests and negotiate with the player(s) to schedule the help/game
Once both the GMs and player(s) have an agreement, the Pop-up Game is scheduled and payment will be due at the time of session
Alternatively, GMs will announce their desire to run a Pop-up Game either immediately or at a scheduled date/time, and players may request to join these games
It is our hope that this new Pop-up Game format will provide GMs and Players greater freedom to game with limited time and/or money, receive focused, expert help in making characters for Radiant Realm games, and/or to test their ideas in a more relaxed setting without needing to commit to a full session or play in the canon Myzelis world.
